Jeanne Laforest
Jeanne Laforest is a musician, singer, arranger, and singer-songwriter who blends rock and pop with a variety of influences. Based in Montreal, QC, since 2016, and a graduate of McGill University in Jazz Voice Performance, she works on the Quebec music scene in a multitude of projects of very varied styles. It was during her stay at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, FI, in 2019 that she devoted herself to composing and arranging the songs that would appear on her first album. After several years of creative research and studio production, she participated in the Escales en Chanson of the Festival en Chanson de ̈Petite-Vallée (Qc) in the summer of 2022 just before releasing her very first opus entitled Depuis les heures nous manque released independently in October 2022. Through her songs, Jeanne is in search of unique sounds that lead her to use both acoustic and electronic instruments, choirs and string ensembles to develop textured atmospheres generating images, memories and emotions specific to each listener. A true rhinoceros woman, she exudes an imposing force on stage and surrounds herself with highly talented musicians. Yet you only have to listen closely to discover her fragile sensitivity, her intimate lyrics and her generous curiosity.
